Origin & Evolution
The EU evolved from post-World War II integration efforts.
It was formally founded under the Maastricht Treaty, signed in 1992 and enforced from 1 November 1993.

The original six founders were Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands
Currency & Policies
The Euro is used by 20 of the 27 member states, forming the Eurozone.
